IMDB is one of my fav sites for movie and TV info ....
It seems like lately (the past year) it's getting really bad for having adds that pop up on the main screen while you're viewing info --- the adds also have a "close" button.
A friend of mine told me the close button is basically an add MORE spyware button.
Also, I like Wikipedia for light-reading info .....
I've been told the reason Wiki is so slow lately is because of them loading down a lot more spyware then they used to.
Is this true ?

I hope not, I browse Wiki all the time when I'm bored at work. If I'm unknowingly putting spyware on my work computer, the IT department will be a bit miffed at me. :smiley1:

No matter how careful one is , you will always get spyware. I set my browser to delete all cookies every time I close it and that helps. I'll also run Spybot or something similar about every month just to make sure that there isn't anything bad on there. So far, nothing critical for me.
I saw an article a few months back where at the Washington Post, the author noticed that his gmail account seemed to be showing ads based off of what he typed in the body of his email letters. Like if he talked about swimming, there would be ads for swim wear on the side. Scary.

I appreciate the heads up, but I visit those sites several times a week and I have not noticed any ill effects. I will keep an eye out for any abnormalities.
