Hello All,
My name is Dan C. and I just joined. I am 39 years old and love toys more now than I did when I was a kid (My wife thinks I am nuts..LOL). Luckily she is very understanding. I collect many types of toys but two of my favorite lines are Micronauts and POTA figures. Unfortunatly I have none of my child hood mego toys but am slowly building my collection of each back up. I guess I just collect for the love of collecting, I recently won an auction with a very nice Zira, Dr. Zaius and Cornelis. All were complete except for Corneliuses Moccisins (If anyone has a set for sale let me know). I was probably more excited at getting these than I was when I got them as a kid. I put them on my computer desk so I can look at them and remember the fond memories of playing with them on my Apes Tree House (Wish I still had that too).
I also would like to collect the Mego Monsters and Super heroes. Even though the only super heroes I had as a kid were a Batman and a Robin, I always wanted more of the super heroes. I am not really into Packaged items, but would really like to collect loose figures that are in good shape.
I also wanted to say I really like this site. It is very informative and I look foreward to talking with other Mego fans. I don't know that much but I am sure I will learn as I go along....Like the difference between a T1 and T2 ??
Also one other question before I go, what is the thing with the Mego trading cards?? Are they made by this site?? The ones I have seen here look really nice, and probably make it easy for a newbie to see if the figure I am looking at, at a toy show or auction has the proper accessories....
Anyway, sorry for the long read, but I am excited to learn more and talk to some other Mego collectors.
Thanks,
Dan C.

Yeah I will leave the T1 and T2 to the experts here, but I prefer T2 over T1 cause I just like the figure quality better! (yeah, just confused you more I bet!)
But all questions can and will be answered in time!

Thanks everyone.....I feel welcome already!!!!!
The people at my work call me the "40 year old Virgin" the guy from the movie, even though I am 39 and married. I love toys as much as that guy and thank goodness my wife totally supports my toy habbit. I am moving another display case into my house tomorrow to house my growing Micronaut and mego figure collection.....WooooHoooo!!!

Welcome aboard, Dan.
Ant answered your T1/T2 question, to answer your card question: Yes, those were made by the museum. Several members (including myself) have sponsored the cards, which are totally free, so never mind those auctions eBay. I'm sure people here will be more than happy to hook you up. Just have a look at the trading cards thread to see who has what. Or post your want list. Here's a list of what's available: http://www.megomuseum.com/tradingcards/index.html
The 2 latest ones (a Trek checklist and a POTA card) aren't mentioned here yet.
To know if your figures are complete you don't have to wait to get these cards, you can simply go to the galleries: http://www.megomuseum.com/gallerymap/index.html
If you wanna know if parts are original or repro you can have a look at the accessory check, put together by Dave MC: http://www.megomuseum.com/wgsh/accessory/index.html
Howdy Dan, welcome to the museum!

Welcome aboard! And yes, the cards are made by this site as a promotional piece. Scott does some really cool design work, and what started as promotional items, quickly turned into sought after collectables.

Welcome you won't find a better place. I'm 36 and I'm happily single.
I'm lucky in that most non-collectors who I show my collection too don't think I'm nuts, they seem fasinated by my packaged items and the amount of things I have. Then I tell them "This is nothing, compared to what the bigger collectors have!"

Welcome!!
Love the Misfits as well. Johnny Cash did a great version of Thirteen on his American Recordings record.
>I collect many types of toys but two of my favorite lines are Micronauts and POTA figures.
Micronauts! WOOOO!!!!!!
...you know about all the Japanese ones, right....?
>I also would like to collect the Mego Monsters and Super heroes.
Monsters WOOOOO!!!!!!!
>Even though the only super heroes I had as a kid were a Batman and a Robin,
....I believe there was a law passed around 1974 that required all kids have a Mego Batman and Robin.
>what is the thing with the Mego trading cards?? Are they made by this site??
Yup; and I think they're the bestest idea ever! Fantastic for publicity, AND they're very true to the source material: made like cards from the Mego era, and card giveaways were pretty common back then.
