Since we are all discussing the "someone is the only something" I figured Bill Bixby should be mentioned. Besides being in my opinion one of the greatest actors of all time I dont think he will ever be replaced in playing David Banner. Eric Bana was FAR from perfect and now it's like everyone that plays the part is trying to compete with the master.

Yeah he was the only David Bruce Banner,
cause it should have been Robert Bruce Banner!
He was amazing
I think Ed Norton is gunna make this sh** real man! Anyone see
FIGHT CLUB? I rest my case! Multiple Personality Disorder at it's finest!
He's short, scrawny, and has a dark side like none other (American History X)
Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky!
Oh yeah baby!
Yeah, this next movie is gunna rock harder than the first one!
Don't get me wrong Bana did fine, however HE WAS TOO TALL and big for the role of Bruce Banner, Norton will do juuuuuust fiiiine methinks! :yeah::grin:

Ed Norton might do the trick in the new movie.
Bana's problem wasn't his portrayal as much as the writing. He did fine with what he was given, but it was way too overthought. The pilot episode of The Incredible Hulk did a much better job of defining the character in a fraction of the time the movie did. Who doesn't remember Bixby's Banner trying and failing to save his wife from that burning car. Simple, effective, and heartwrenching. That was al the sympathy he needed for the rest of the show's run. It played upon all of our fears of inadequacy and being unable to protect the ones we loved in a matter of moments, where Ang Lee tortured us with the same message for WAYYYY too long.

It's Bill Bixby, hands down!!! I really didn't care for the last Hulk movie, I'll wait to see what the next one is like before I make any comments!!!

Agreed on Bixby. One of television's greatest actors. And right on about the TV pilot vs. the movie Paul. Well said.
Bana didn't have a chance with that dog of a movie. A BAD arthouse film disguised as a super hero blockbuster. He did well with what he had. He probably deserved a second shot, but I'm sure anyone associated with the last movie would kill the new movie's chances of success.
Ed Norton oughta rock the house as Banner though.

I have always loved Bill Bixby (RIP ) as an actor ever since I saw Courtship of Eddie's Father when I was 4! He was wonderful as David Bruce Banner in The Hulk TV series. I think he was responsible for making the series more mainstream to adults who had never read the comic or had seen the 60s's cartoon show, making it the success that it was. Heck, the show was a must see for my mom when it was on. We could watch it together, and it was actually cool that she watched!:)
So yes, Bill Bixby was the only David Bruce Banner, (I'm not arguing over the name).

lol, he fell out of a plane and died yes, death of the hulk is certainly not a good hulk movie (Bixby though does not fail on good acting), however I believe that the Death of the Hulk was not meant to be the last of the hulk, there was another bixby movie that was meant to show that the hulk infact did not die and would actually find a cure, Bixbys death obviously stopped production on further developement of any such thing.

That's cool, but gunshots hurting him, his overall strength weakened, and the fact he didn't speak really gets me and did when I was little, don't get me wrong I watched every episode at least 4 times and Lou is spot on! But the show's Hulk is the Coke Zero of the Hulk not even a good taste and a didn't have the weight behind it. Bixby was an amazing actor and did Banner lots of justice, but the producers needed shock treatment!
