Hi, for me most Billy Joel songs are virtually unlistenable. "Piano Man" is most painful!

I like his music personally, I think he's one of the best songwriters the US has produced.
I don't mind Billy Joel
The only problem with Joel, on a lot of his popular songs, he comes off as a bit of a whiner.
You just want to say, SHUT UP !!! :)
A few examples
My Life
Big Shot
You May Be Right
Moving Out
I think the only Joel song I truly hate is The Longest Time
Everything else, I can tolerate

I know John Lennon's song "Imagine" gets a lot of attention. It's a beautiful written song but not my favorite.
Personally, my favorite song of his is "Beautiful Boy". I guess being the father of the three most wonderful children (two boys), the song just hits me in a spot I can't describe.
Although, I never really agreed with Lennon on many of his political and religious views the one thing that always stood out in my mind is how he was able to take the indescribable unconditional love that a father feels for their children and put it into song like "Beautiful Boy" and "Hey Jude" (even though it was with the Beatles.
Didn't Paul write Hey Jude for Julian Lennon? Might be an urban myth actually.
There haven't been many 90's songs mentioned yet, so I'll nominate Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, Lose Yourself by Eminem and What The Day Brings by BRAD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3g3raY1tYm4). Some of the British stuff ws superb too, Oasis' Wonder Wall, Blur Song Two (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0Xl0ZEKJzo) among others.
In recent times I'd have to go with Feel Good Inc. by Gorillaz/De La Soul (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01C4RPEinM4) or maybe Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgBgnoEY4iM). Maybe Top Ten songs since 1990 should be another thread...
Cheers,
Will
>There haven't been many 90's songs mentioned yet,
That's 'cos most 90's stuff was really bad. Musicly simplistic and lyricly whiney!
"Yeah, THIS is a good band."
"Are you being sarcastic?"
"I don't even KNOW any more..."
Although Big Rude Jake got their start in the 90's....
