    Ursa Zod and Non

Has anyone made Mego13 inch versions of these?
    Or anyone?
Im working on a 13 inch range and want to see all. I realise that customs of these are much more rare BUT am certain there are 13 inch customisers out there!

Mego made a 13" Zod that looked like Terrance Stamp from the movie , but his costume was paterned after the comic book appearance.

    Keepin' it Mego-ey !

I know this thread is in the wrong section---but can someone
CLEAR THIS UP once and for all.

It's common knowledge that Mego wasn't allowed to use the movie
            costumes for LEX/ZOD/JOR-EL

            But...

Was that costume on the Mego Zod EVER seen in the comics?

Did Mego create it specifically for the line because the one in the
            comics wasn't Megoey enough?

Martin, is the ZOD costume you scanned from the comic above from around 1978-1980
(when the Zod character was introduced in the Donner flicks)-or is that
costume from the later PHANTOM ZONE comic that I remember coming out in
            like the 1985-87 range?

Thank you to any one with answers.

But they could use the actors' likenesses? Odd.

Not to my knowledge. From his introduction in the Silver Age, General Zod was always shown wearing that grey policeman's uniform.

              My guess would be "yes".

The first pic is from the Silver Age but looking at it right now it could have been from the Bronze Age. The second is indeed from The Phantom Zone limited series (1982) with art by Gene Colan. The third is by John Byrne from his Superman run.

Here is the only cover appearance that I could find for the good General outside of The Phantom Zone

The only "odd" think about it is that any one thinks that bloated Mego Zod face looks like
Terence Stamp! ---but in all seriousness, yeah--they could use the actor's---ahem---
"likenesses"---apparently because you legally can't confirm that that's what they were
(and frankly I think they're all pretty off enough to qualify---save for the "hair" aspects
---but no one has a copyright monopoly on grey hair, black beards or baldness!)

Otherwise---Martin---thank you VERY much for the "Zod costume education"
I am planning on getting a custom made at some point---its pretty apparent
that the grey suit is the "go to" costume when it comes to Zod in the Bronze Age.

That costume is all I've ever seen in the comics as well.

The thing that really annoys me about those 12" Superman figures is that we never got an 8" Lex Luthor!

                    You're tellin' me!

And, frankly, I love that costume Luthor had back then. It seems
very definitive to the "DC that I grew up with"

It's nice to see it in 8 inch scale.

There actually have been quite a few nice customs made---thank goodness!

Yep! I have a Luthor costume on the way from Brian Leitner. And I also have the reproheads Zod costume coming in as well.

And I already have Toy Room boxes waiting for both of them.

                          Lex Luthor, ruler of Austrailia?
You promised me the son of Jor-El.

I can see it. I could just see someone tossing this comic at a Mego designer and saying "Design a Zod figure!" then the guy draws up Kru-El thinking it's Zod.
