The Columbus Toy Show was just canceled, and it made me consider possible impact on other events I plan to attend.
Will this have blown over by then? Gotten worse? I'm hoping we don't have to postpone or cancel.

This is going to be a very real possibility unfortunately. Steve is dealing with this stuff now in his job and knows more than us regarding potential impact and logistic changes. He and Brian will make the best, most informed decision.
I'll personally by crushed by this for the time and money I've invested in Random noir stuff. However, I'll get over it. Some people who are ill will not recover. I gotta think big picture.
PSA: Megomeet will make the best decision based on the best Intel. This is not political or panic. I don't want to see anyone blast them on Facebook if this comes to pass. I certainly hope to see everyone in June, but if not we'll catch up next year.

full on agreement with this statement. It would be an added bunch of suck to miss out on the meet this year; but if that is the call, then I support that fully.
In the event that does happen, my positive outlook is that the marketplace here at the museum could possibly have a bunch of cool customs and stuff popping up for sale. :)

yeah, I don't know what these politicians are doing, but we just got word today that a town 50 miles from me has declared State of Emergency and the Mayor has additional powers. Funny, the first three things on the Mayor's new power-list are: Ban Guns Sales, Ban Ammo Sales, ban liquor sales. Really? smh.......
Our State has now set limits on the amount of people attending events. 250 persons max for indoor events. 500 persons max for outdoor events. Everything is getting cancelled, even the parade this weekend.

Toylanta next weekend was cancelled today. I'm hoping with the Meet still 3 months out this will have passed enough by then.

The Chicago Toy Show scheduled for April has been cancelled. The Fall show in October is still on as of now. Crossing fingers that the world is back to normal before June.

Don't get me wrong. My concern is for public safety first and foremost. But this is having a definite economic impact.

Lexington Comic Con was moved from March 21 to May 14. It is still on. Thinking about going to it.

not panicking. just preparing. The NBA isn't even resuming their season till June so this is a fluid situation. kids aren't able to go to prom or even have a graduation ceremony. I certainly want to show the world all the cool Random noir stuff at our tables, but Im ready if we get cancelled/postponed

Hence why my thread is titled "concerns" and not "hysterical panic".
I'm concerned enough to be prepared, but optimistic enough to hope it is back to normal by then.
I'm still planning as normal.

I'm hoping we're on the other side of this by mid-June, but if not I have every intention of rescheduling if possible. I'm making inquiries on alternate dates and locations just in case.
Another consideration is the CMHoF dinner. The shared parenting plan I have with Austin for the Mego Museum customs community legally binds us to do what's best for the child, which honestly I think we'd both do anyway. Whatever Plan B arises, we'll try to cover all the bases.

Harajuku, Sunday Afternoon.
Brue, words cannot express how much I needed that right now.
Thanks for posting that vid, from the bottom of my heart. I have been missing Japan, and I love P, B & J.

I'm not sure if the elephant in the room has been discussed recently, I wasn't around here for awhile but I don't see anything posted about it. This event can't be still happening as scheduled, can it? I honestly can't imagine everything will be back to normal in a month and a half, and I personally can't imagine travelling to the US again for a looooong time (and especially not to Ohio if they actually reopen early like they want to, which I personally think is a terrible idea). Sorry if I'm stepping on any toes, just curious.

I can see Trump allowing constrictions be lifted to allow this in a month and a half but doubt Canada will follow suit. The last thing I want is for any of my friends here to catch or spread this awesome virus. I’m rooting for it to be postponed because I care about you guys. Kinda seems like a no brainer at this point.

I'm not even sure what air travel will be like by June. Right now, if I travel outside of Texas I have to quarantine for 2 weeks.

If it is postponed, it will allow me time to get my custom perfect.
I hate the idea that it will be, but I anticipate that it is likely (they canceled Comicon). My concern is for the health and safety of my fellow Mego fans. And if that is assured, that's far more important.
That is to say, I'll be slightly disappointed, but I will soldier on.

Columbus is scheduled to gradually reopen beginning 5/1, 'cause the economy is more important than lives. That being said, it's looking like postponement is the only responsible option. There's no pressure to release the space, so I haven't rushed to make an announcement. My gut tells me I'll be calling it soon and issuing refunds.

Call it the way you think is best, Steve. All kinds of tough and crazy decisions all over the place right now. It is a disappointment, for sure. But, maybe we can have an online customs auction, and folks can host sales tables in the marketplace. Make due and hold steady for the reschedule or the next year, whichever seems most prudent. I have total faith in your judgement.

some of the restrictions on crowds sizes and indoor gatherings will impede it. If there is a resurgence in cases as people get out more it will be right back to TP and bacon hoarding.

We should have it anyway, what the heck--this is 'Murica!! I see a beach reopened in FL and people--literally--fled to it like lemmings.
I'm sorry, I've spent a long week in healthcare dealing with this pandemic and some people--including some of our "leaders"--are deluding themselves. Ignorance is no longer an excuse.

I don't wish ill on anyone, I'm just tired, frustrated, and disappointed. Every selfish person who doesn't care about this might infect someone.
I really want to attend Mego Meet and see my friends here and perhaps make new ones. I'm looking forward to an announcement about rescheduling, it's an inportant weekend to me. I think it will be more special after all that is happening when we can meet.

I've had some decent online consolation alternatives suggested, and a couple of them might work for a bridge. I'm exploring those now.
A later alternate date/space is a huge challenge for anything in 2020.

when I go out in public, judging by the amount of masks I see a lot of people care about this and are concerned. I hope that translates to people not going nuts if some irresponsible governors feel the need to go wide open on May 1st

I like the sound of an online alternative. With livestreaming, video conferencing, online auctions, etc. I think there is still a lot of goodness that could be shared at a time when folks could use more good things.

Yeah, no way is Canada following suit yet. Plus, Canada and the US just extended the border restrictions for unnecessary travel for an additional 30 days, which would take it to May 21st. After that, who knows...
And I agree with the rest of what you had to say as well.

Completely understand the challenge, Steve, and am confident you guys will come up with the best way to handle this, I know it isn't easy. I hope you guys don't think I was calling you out on this, that wasn't my intention. I was just curious because it seemed like there was no discussion on this (unless I missed it somewhere, I'm not on FB much) and I thought it odd, as the fate of various events that were supposed to happen over the next several months is a huge topic of conversation in most places.

My heart really goes out to you Steve! This virus has made your difficult job nearly impossible. As a Covid 19 survivor (yes, I call it survivor) I am more than a little gun shy about even leaving my house now.

I completely understand. As someone with underlying lung conditions (asthma), I'm extremely wary of leaving my house, and have barely done so in weeks (other than for walks with the family).

I am now seeing where survivors have become reinfected. I don't know if I would live through it a second time. Either way, I absolutely don't want this again.

I didn't feel called out my friend. My brain and body are moving at the speed of molasses between work and family. We've been quiet because we just haven't had any concrete info.
All I ask is that whatever happens, please remember it's ultimately Robyn's fault. If she hadn't created this place we wouldn't be in this pickle.

Oh man I completely understand, I feel like I've been moving underwater for weeks now, in an almost dreamlike stasis or something. And I totally get it on trying to make a decision based on the whirlwind of ever changing info that's going on now.

I certainly don't want to miss A Meet year, but reality is a tough opponent. The Olympics were moved to next year. That's huge. I personally have a lot of money and time invested in this show from an inventory perspective, but health and safety comes first, period. Managing a bank during this crisis has shown me that society actually can adapt on the fly. we quickly took measures of mitigation, changed our hours and some procedures and so far has been okay. My branch is one of a few that still accepts walk in traffic. the rest are drive thru only. So if the banking industry can morph at will so can the Meet. I'll just save our figures for when we do have the show and build more inventory in the meantime. I really have no interest in becoming a mail order service but will do some on a limited basis
John and Berto are family members who have survived and will attest thst nobody wants this ever. I'll miss seeing everyone and will be disappointed but I'll live. A lot of people won't. I'm cool with any decision made. everyone stay safe!
