    Strange Mego Logo!

While Mego was world-renown for shameless self-promotion to the toy industry (have you heard about Mego’s extravagant Toy Fair parties for retail buyers?), Mego was very poor at self-promotion aimed at its end-users… also known as ‘kids’.How many of us, as kids, knew that a company called “Mego” manufactured our favorite action figures? Sadly, very [...]

I never knew that Mego made my Spider-man toy until I find one on
    e-bay.
I'd heard of Lego...and still say Mego to rhyme with Lego...(No Death Threats)
I don't think that Mego had any adverts running over here...none that I can
    remember.

    Great Article.

I wish I could remember when I knew about "Mego". I can't recall if when I first went looking for them again I knew what they were called. I don't know if I knew the word when I was a kid,, but i suspect taht having seen it stamped on the back of the figures I habitually dressed and undressed it's possible I knew Mego as a word....

That Alden's logo looks like the love child of the old and new Mego logos...

I knew about Mego as a kid, i loved them then and was enthralled when my dad used to tell me "he knew those guys" what he meant was Parkdale Novelty but nonetheless. I even knew about Marty Abrams thanks to issues of playthings lying around....

Alden's catalogs are the bomb, they have provided Plaidstallions with much merriment.

Funny, I had sooo many Megos and I did, indeed, know there were made by Mego, but I don't remember ever seeing any Mego commercials (with the exception of Kiss). I even knew how to properly pronounce the name of the company, but I'm not sure how.

It almost looks like a label you would find sewn on the clothes.

I work as a designer in a marcom department, and our company logo has been "redesigned" be vendors on ocassion. We've gotten back keychains where are logo was recreated, despite the fact that we sent them artwork files to work from. The same could have happened here, or Mego could have had a really sloppy internal marcom dept.

I think I knew the name Mego from the toys themselves (I don't recall many Mego commercials for some reason), but the name was cemented in my brain thanks to "Greenburg's Guide to Super Hero Toys" which came out in 1988. It's full of bad information, but it had enough good stuff in it to make a big impression.

I did actually know that my Action Jackson and Lainie doll came from Mego. I always liked when the announcer at the end of the commercial would say, "..By Mego". However I don't remember when they stopped using the word Mego in the circle and started using the MC in the circle.

I'm the same as HardyGirl. I remember that even when I got my first Superman, that I noticed it was by a company called Mego and not the usual toy names that I was used to like Ideal or Mattel. And then of course the "By Mego" became familiar by the mid-70's. I would say that it had to be when I got much older that I realized that the logos had changed though.
                              It's all good!
