After all the years of mispronunciation of Mego.. wouldn't it be funny if Marty released a video where he said that the old company was pronounced Me-Go but the new company is supposed to be pronounced Meg-O? "I spelled them the same, but I changed the pronunciation so you could always tell the difference between vintage and modern."

Dr. Mego would have to go down to the courthouse and get his name changed to Dr. Mego...

I’ve always called it Meg-o because I assumed it rhymed with Lego. Even since I was corrected about fifteen years ago I admit it’s been a hard habit to break.

But it wouldn't be pronouncing it wrong. It was just me imagining there being 2 pronunciations, where the correct pronunciation for the new Mego Corp. is actually different than the correct pronunciation for the Mego we grew up on.

...And there you have it. Proof that things are never funny if you have to explain them.

As a kid, it was Meg-O. As an adult, I learned it was really Me-Go. I don't ever recall seeing a Mego commercial as a kid, so I didn't know any better.

And Meg-O is still world's better than what I used to call Thor's hammer as a kid... or now, actually...

Yeah, though, I remember seeing a CHiPs commercial and the KISS commercial when I was a kid, I didn’t pronounce it correctly until I got to the museum, years ago, now. I didn’t know better and was about eight when the company originally ceased operations. And, at best, I referred to the superheroes as Worlds Greatest Super Heroes. I knew of and owned several different Mego lines, but I’m not sure that I ever spoke the word Mego contemporaneously.

I remember when I was a kid I asked my mom which way to pronounce it and she said "meg-o". I said it that way for years. I forgive her though, seeing as she bought me so many meg-os.
I agree about it being funny. Marty should do it on next April's Fools day.

I do agree with Sprytel's idea... It would be a clever way to differentiate. As far as producing a video, has MEGO considered doing some old fashioned style commercials? Even if TV doesn't pick them up, they could be on social media and youtube.

I pronounced it incorrectly as a kid, too. I must have seen commercials at some point, but it obviously didn't stick. Or I just thought the commercial guy was saying it wrong.

Just to let you know this thread is moot, because the new Greg package specifically says that the name is pronounced "Meego". Me go. Two words combined into one. Please say it correctly, and correct anybody you hear mispronounce it.
