I've never really bought an AHI monster for myself, I've flipped plenty but never even considered keeping one. While playing with Charlie's Creature figure last month I started thinking "what the hell?" and bought a Frankenstein off ebay which turned out to be a friend of mine.

My question is (because I honestly don't know) are the jointed ones hard to find? I'm pretty fond of them and wondered if they made the whole range.

Anyway, I'm going to scower Lou's site but any input would be appreciated.

Congrats Brian. I've owned dozens of these sets over the years. Just when I think I've kicked the habit, some new variation grabs my attention.

Currently, I'm putting together a set of Hard Head First Versions. All I need is Hairy Chest Wolfman to finish them out.

As far as the frequency of jointed ones, I'd say they're harder to find. Out of every 10 you see, seems like only 1 or 2 is jointed. If I'm not mistaken, Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman and Mummy all have jointed variations. Out of those 4, seems like Wolfman and Mummy are the toughest jointed ones to find.

Wanna see a mind boggling price for an AHI Frankenstein, check this out:
AHI AZRAK Frankenstein 8" Mego 3rd face variation - eBay (item 180234591080 end time Apr-25-08 13:56:47 PDT) (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180234591080&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=008)

They all seem to waiver in popularity, but I've always enjoyed them.

Hey that auction is my buddy Kelly's, so good for him I guess.

Thanks for the info Heath, I'm just sort of shopping good deals right now.

I'd agree that Drac and Frankie jointed wrists turn up more than the others (wolfman and mummy, not non-jointed figures), but overall the jointed wrist figures are "rarer" than most other versions. I managed to put together a pretty big pile of Frankies a few years back and there were more variations than consistencies in that figure through the years. Try finding two alike AHIs for a real challenge.

Kind of like snowflakes hunh?

I guess I'm into this now and I bought three more last night from my buddy. I couldn't resist paying $2 for local shipping and buying from somebody I know.

I'm envious.

I have resisted the urge to buy the AHI's for decades, mostly because of my OCD over having to have Mint loose figures (try and find a mint loose mummy) and the prohibitive price of the 2 Creatures carded. I got a decent deal on my loose Creature but he's hardly mint.

I have seen a lot of displayable MOC AHI Monsters going for, what I feel are reasonable prices. I remember a few years ago you couldn't even touch carded ones for less than 3 bills, now I consistently see them selling for $200-$250, which is a steal since I pay that much for 1979 carded Mego Batmans and Spider-Mans which there are about a billion of floating around.

I can only remember one other auction with that head and it wasn't in that good of condition. It's been close to five years since that other auction too!

There's something really "Halloween-y" about the AHI monsters. The card looks like it could be made from an old mini-treat bag. The figures look a lot like the cheap Jigglers AHI and Ben Cooper made. It reminds me of a time when Halloween was creepy and not gory.

Show us some pics Brian!

Here's my crew thus far, pretty much how I've been spending the topless robot money.

I'm not sure which is which are what versions these are. Kelly (the seller) seems to think the Wolfman could be just made up of different parts but with AHI you never honestly know I guess.

Oh man, those are great and addicting...I miss mine already, sniff.

Now you have to get the Creatures, both male and female.

Now you've done it.

Way ahead of you Hector, I already have a Creech (although I really should have waited for a male version) and a carded Drac. Going to have to slow down now...

Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice catch! Ahi's run hot and cold so it can be very hard to find them, sometimes.

Ooh man, that Frankie is particularly nice. Most of them I've seen have a lot of flesh blothced over the green.

Man, those are tempting!
