So, I just saw an interview with Marty where he was asked where one could find the company on the web, and he mentioned Mego.com...unfortunately, that's owned by someone else and is a site about avatars that is definitely not the Mego we know. If you look at the packaging on the new toys, it says Mego.toys is the address...but that goes to a placeholder page that asks if you want to buy the domain. Not a really good sign. Maybe a site is in the works right now, but that placeholder is definitely not what you want your customers to see upon launch - something (a graphic and a 'Coming Soon' message, maybe?) should have been up at least by Comic Con when the first packaged items were available.
Now, the Facebook presence is great, and they're doing pretty well with that. The Mego Ambassador program is a really cool idea, and Marty's video message after the confusion of Target's distribution became evident was a brilliant and very respectable move. So they're doing all right on social media so far. But the web presence needs some work ASAP, 'cause that part doesn't look so good for the company right now.
Anybody know what's going on with that?
