NEW Mego Trek Double Pack cracked open with fun surprises!

When we're talking about an historical moment like this, the last thing I want to do is leave BRAND NEW Megos untouched. Cracking them open is where I'm at. Today I found two lone Trek packs sitting on a shelf. I picked up one, respecting the chance another fan would be looking in that store soon. I got Kirk and Spock home and so started my pictorial. I think you'll find this a pleasurable trip with some neat surprises I had not heard about yet. Let's hop on that new Mego Express Train and start the ride... ALL ABOARD!!!

Here's a quick overview of what you see on the outside of this triangular package starting with the front...

    [IMG][/IMG]

    Here's one side...

    [IMG][/IMG]

    And the other...

Upon opening the top, you will notice a triangular opening in the back with some inserts in it. Covet those pieces.Lots of love waiting in there...

    [IMG][/IMG]

Now for the inserts... The first thing you will notice are three cards which you can use to change the scenery on the inner display piece! How you attach them is not evident. I see no slits but I imagine you can invent a method to attach them without hurting the cardboard. My initial thought are glue dots.

The next piece is the joy of all joys... The Mego Club Membership card!!! I'm signing up today!

But there are figures in here as well. Let's take a look...

Here's the Captain looking as solid as ever. Firm limbs and strong poseability are standouts.

Spock also holds his own with a great outfit, solid paint apps and the standard Trek gear. Both figures come with knives.

The Captain volunteered to be our first specimen to offer a closer look. Velcro holds the top shirt strongly in place.

The body stands strong and holds any position with a minimal of effort. It feels very sturdy.

Note that is a string on his upper shoulder, not a crack. This figure is excellent.

And like the 14 inch, this figure has the male plug incorporated on the body.

And here's a better shot of the head so you can see it's base construction.

So there you have it. The new Trek Megos. Solid bodies, and a new head plug system that is very effective. I hope you enjoyed the ride. I'm looking forward to more in this series. It's starting out as a great ride.

No swapping heads with vintage bodies.

New torso, and not a new pelvis?

First of all thank you for the pics.

I am surprised they changed the neck construction. Did not expect that. Don't know how a feel about that right now to be honest.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I'll be completely honest here. I think it's a better design because now those heads won't rock and they're sturdy on there. I bet you'll come to really like them. Plus the bodies are a home run. Sturdy as all get out. I wouldn't want to change them out.

That was an Awesome review, thanks! Interesting change with neck-plug...when Doc mentioned it, I figure it was for the 14" General Zod. I wonder what the reason for the change was? Maybe there's a different body coming that won't work with the old style Mego head...like maybe a solid torso, with no rubber bands?

I'm thrilled Doc changed the neck plugs. Small differences like that preserve the value of old-school Mego.
