Khan Update

I saw a poster at the Toronto Toy show this past weekend and Planet X a logo that said "Coming this June". I called today and they said yes, it's June now.

Whoever asked me to hold one for them, I'm still with it. I'll still donate one to the Megomeet but I'll have to ship itafter.

On April 18th, I received this email from ePlanetX:

Our contact at Diamond Comics informed us that the release date is now more likely early June than the previous time frame of late May. However, they still haven't given us a firm date. As soon as we do know we will be sending out an email to everyone who has placed a pre-order.

I'm sorry we can't be more precise on the date. It's a waiting game for us too.

Planet X's site still says June, but obviously that ain't gonna happen. Wonder what ballpark date they're looking at now..?

The time I talked to them was just before Megomeet and they said July. I talked to Paul at the show and I would guess that it will be August.

we are buying a large quantity of them from Planet X...it was originally supposed to be our shared exclusive, but a mix up with DST personnel and that didn't happen...we are currently presold out of the small up front confirmed quantity, but PlanetX told me once released, i will be able to buy more (wholesale) and offer at retail (or less)...just a fyi

I tried a preorder thru one of the exclusive places, and it wouldn't finish up and I never got a confirmation. :( So I hope someone here can hook me up whenever the slow boat from China gets here.

I'd also be interested in obtaining a Khan, should there be any extras around.

Planet X isn't sending out emails with updates on how the figure still hasn't arrived yet. When their Khans finally do show up, I'm sure they'll email every single person that reserved one with instructions and details for how to procede and pay, etc.

As Rick mentioned, NewForce already had the figure up for ordering, but sold out of the initial allocation they've confirmed from Planet X. Once the figure actually hits and Planet X knows what kind of volume they'll have to work with, Rick can hopefully buy more from them at wholesale and will offer at the same retail price. Or maybe even lower, as he said.

Mine arrived last night from Planet X, he looks great. This is actually the first EMCE trek figure where I could open his clamshell without cutting it with scissors, so he has been opened and re-sealed already.

the neck, not AV squad close, but not disco boy low.

I think my guy in China got confused with the Wrath of Khan open chest look and
told his workers to put the snap at mid-torso.

Received mine today. If nobody told me this was a new item I'd swear it was vintage-- that's how true-to-Mego it is.

The head is fantastic, if a touch small compared to the classic Trek figures (casting/molding issue?). I could nitpick about the catchlights in the eyes (he possesses a not-inappropriate glassy stare), but the gold paint detail on the hair-fastener is an unexpected bonus, very cleanly applied. Good call to use the Trek-boot leg.

So has anyone experimented with repositioning the front closure? It looks like it could be moved up a good half-inch without compromising the tailoring.

It's not just you I also noticed it on mine also it may just be me but the head does look a little small. But I'm still really happy that we have a new Star Trek "Mego" to go with our collections :wink_y:

Khan is not supposed to be a caucasian (white guy) the actor is hispanic and they
darkened his skin for the role because Khan is partly mongolian - hence the name.
Mongolians are darker than other asians.

Actually, Space Seed specifically identified Khan Noonian Singh as a Sikh (Maybe he took the title 'khan' for himself?). But I'm pretty sure his being a 'genetically-engineered superman' overrides the significance of any particular physical traits. Whatever, the fig looks good.

I think Khan looks great as is. Even the open collared jumpsuit fits the character, if not being 100% show accurate.

Will you be changing the snap's location in the future runs?

I would check with Planet X first to make sure they want the snap moved, but
my guy in China doesn't care where the snap is.

I received my Khan yesterday.

The colour of the head matches the body perfectly, and is the exact tone.
The prototype on the back of the card looks like total crap compared to the finished product.
