Any Word on the EMCE Scotty/Keeper Set Yet? [Archive]

I was just wondering when the new EMCE Scotty/Keeper set was supposed to be available. I'm needing to stock up on Keepers :)

Is it me or was there much less time between the spock and bones waves? Maybe that had something to do with the spock delay?

Spock and the Andorian were ready to leave China at the end of October, but the
lead paint crisis had everything backed-up until late November.

The factory continued to work on McCoy and the Romulan so that they were
ready to go by early December - arriving on my door February 6th.

Here’s the info I got when I e-mailed DST:

Scottie and Keeper (5/28/2008)
Khan (8/20/2008)
Cornelius/Soldier Ape (6/15/2008)
Zira/Dr. Zaius (8/15/2008)
Uhura/Mugato (8/20/2008)

The e-mail also indicates that in the future, the DST website will have release dates.

DST's site has had release dates for quite a while now. That's where I've gotten the release info from:

The one thing that bothers me about EMCE toys is their delays. Maybe they should go much later with their release dates so we'll be suprised when the figures release a bit early.

Yes there site is now saying 25 of June. Thats over a month behind the other release. Sucks because you pay ahead and wait and wait and wait. Next time I am going to not order them till they are out.
Who charges you upon ordering? Most places don't charge your CC for pre-orders until the the item is in-stock and ready to ship. That's how it works where I order from. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Who charges you upon ordering? Most places don't charge your CC for pre-orders until the the item is in-stock and ready to ship.

All the big guys here do that I've ordered from charge for preorders before they are in stock and ready to go.

I would agree with you if it were not for the fact that ALL of the figures have been delayed. I see a pattern here.

There was also a delay after that lead crisis where some toys had to be recalled and because of that the extra control of ALL toys leaving China. You can hardly blame EMCE for that. Yeah, it sucks, but it makes finally receiving the figures extra sweet

No, I know you don't blame anyone. Just saying that those estimates would've been possible hadn't all this stuff happened in China. That's beyond EMCE's control, but it does set the release date back a few weeks

The latest release date I heard was May 28th. While I hold no confidence in that date, the figures should have been in the water well before now in order to even come close to that date. None of the recent events should have affected that shipment, and if they did, someone should have changed expectations by now. Just my 2 cents.

Well, you knew it was bound to happen: DST has now updated their site with yet another change for Scotty & the Keeper.. 7/16 is out the window and the new date is 8/27.

So now, Scotty & Keeper, which were originally scheduled for May release and have been delayed three different times, are now coming out AFTER Uhura and Mugatu, which are scheduled for 8/20.

Of course, if you think that 8/20 date will hold for Uhura and Mugatu, then you can definitely count yourself an optimist.. :googly:

I bet we won't even see Sulu, Gorn, Cheron, and Checov until Spring '09, early summer '09...
It will be almost SEPTEMBER, if this date even holds true, and we havn't seen one single '08 shipment release yet.

I have had these ordered and paid for since Feb. Perhaps Doc Mego could shed some light on this? I can only hope that Diamond did this to cover themselves.:ugh_y:

I think a lot of factors are going into this delay. All of them China related. I just heard on NPR a few days ago that the Chinese government are ordering factories to close for the duration of the Olympics to improve air quality. The shutdown has already started. Now add in the toy safety scare from the past year and the recent earthquake. Divide these factors by the fact that EMCE is not a huge cash cow like Hasbro etc. and the answer looks something like this:

Scotty-Keeper delivery + China's chronic problems / No one is getting rich off this = Don't hold your breath waiting for the boat to arrive

I know I'll only preorder exclusive or limited figures ever again. I'm still anticipating my "Early" bird captain action figure. I understand a lot is happening in China but we should be at least given close to doable release dates.

Our factory is really good at what they do... they work other big companies figures as well, so if somebody's gettin pushed back? you guessed it... it's us... small 'taters. I think we may see it ease up for us at least, as we planned pretty far into the future... We'll see soon enough:smiley11:

Exactly what El Roboto said - and add to that lab testing is now taking 3 weeks
instead of 3 days.

Scotty and the Keeper are on the water, Uhura and Mugato are right in line
behind them, with the Apes too! This fall will be re-mego crazy.

Someday I will write up the backstory of all this - if I survive it.

Even with all this frustration, it is still great news to know we've got new goodies to drool over.

Diamond's website is now saying 8/27 for Scotty/Keeper which
sounds right. They need a few weeks to process a shipment
once it's in their hands.

My comic guy told me this past Friday that the EMCE Keeper/Scotty sets will be in on Wednesday the 13th. I have 2 cases coming in. If anyone is interested message me on the Museum. I still have figures from the first 3 waves too.
