Roberto's display was incredible, and he was great about explaining all the details and thoughts behind the creation of it all. Really enjoyed it!

c'mon, the title of this thread should be;
Did Darklord 1967 come and set up his Batman stuff this year in under 48hours?
The answer - yes, it was set up in 47 hours lol.
So much attention to detail, so much passion...and what can I say, but WOW.
Dude has a serious passion for making us all oooh and ahhh.
Amazing customs.

Did I set up my Custom Bat-Display, you ask?
Indeed I did! And I had an absolute BLAST doing it too! I just wish the weekend was longer!!

The central point of the display was the top two floors of the Gotham Warehouse & Storage Building (where The Batman and Robin The Boy Wonder were to be posed)! The building measures 4 feet wide by 4 feet deep by 3-1/2 feet tall. It's got internal lighting for windows, detailed rooftop with internally lit skylight, smoke stacks, stone gargoyles, and a decrepit, old watertower. The building stood in front of an 8 foot x 8 foot Gotham skyline backdrop developed from original artwork graciously donated by the Mego Museum's own Robyn Adams. The two tables flanking the central display featured two smaller diorama "scenes" and the work-in-progress correctly-scaled 1966 Batmobile!

At table one, The "ASYLUM ESCAPE" diorama was featured. This depicted a scene where four of Gotham's most notorious psychotics have escaped from their cells and gathered in the Shock Therapy Chamber at Arkham Asylum as they set off a massive explosion to cover their daring breakout!

I was SO rushed and pressed for time trying to get this display ready in time for the meet that I was still finishing these figures on the day of the show!!! I did not even have time to paint pupils into the eyes of all the characters!! I will be doing that n the coming days!

THE PENGUIN made it clear that he was NOT a villain to be trifled with, armed with his two deadly "bumbershoot" umbrellas!

TWO-FACE spent the day casually flipping his two-headed silver dollar, letting fate decide if he would do good or evil to the visitors of MEGO MEET!

With his flamboyant flair for theatricality, THE RIDDLER threatened many with his solid-brass walking cane while baffling visitors with his endless conundrums.

"SUMMONING THE HEROES"
With the terrible prison break at Arkham Asylum threatening the city, POLICE COMMISSIONER JAMES GORDON flashes the BATSIGNAL from the roof of police headquarters, soliciting the help of the Caped Crusaders!

NOTE: Sadly, the DC Direct Batsignal Prop featured in this weekend's display was STOLEN from under my display table at some point between Saturday night's wrap-up, and the following morning at 10 AM. The prop was brand new in its original box and now it is gone. While disappointed, I remain philosophical and ultimately am not too upset about this theft: I brought this Batsignal only as a "place-holder" prop to display my custom Commissioner Gordon figure. I left a duplicate of this prop at home AND ultimately i am planning on custom-building my own (much more accurate and detailed) Batsignal prop anyway. It is somewhat annoying, however, that an item which is now valued at upwards of $250 (minimum on eBay) just walked away. Grrr!

"GOTHAM NIGHT WATCH"
Never ones to shirk responsibility, THE BATMAN & ROBIN THE BOY WONDER respond promptly to the Commissioner's call for help!! From the rooftop of Gotham Warehouse & Storage, they survey the chaos at distant Arkham Asylum and prepare to confront the oncoming threat!

Stolen bat signal!?
How's this happen?
The hotel should have video of everyone coming out of that area.
Do they know there was a theft?

That is so messed up that someone stole it!
I hope you have been talking to the hotel about it because that is not an easy piece to obtain.
Maybe it's best that we won't be there for MM next year.

I promptly looked into that on Sunday afternoon when I discovered the bat signal was missing. The hotel staff reviewed the video surveillance footage shot by the camera immediately outside that room between the hours of 11 PM on Saturday and 10 AM on Sunday morning. All they could see were the other vendor individuals leaving that room with large plain brown boxes. I am afraid I'm going to have to chalk this up to a learning experience: NEVER leave anything behind that is small enough to walk away. It could have been a lot worse, I suppose. One of my custom action figures could have been stolen. In that way, I was lucky.

The Works In Progress Batmobile table was indeed another feature of my display area!
I spent some time at the meet repairing some damage to the car caused in shipping transit.

This is the first I heard of this and it's so disappointing. That being said, don't be so quick to pin it on a member of the community. There were other people in and out of that room who weren't part of the Mego Museum family.

Thank you for the kind words supes!
Join us next year for MEGO MEET '18! I will be returning with this same display and some fun new additional custom figures, and dioramas, and (God-willing) a finished Batmobile.
I spent the last year and a half just developing the figures and dioramas that were displayed at the meet for this year. Now that they're done, I can concentrate fully on THE BATMOBILE for '18!

Oh ABSOLUTELY!! I agree completely! I certainly did not wish to imply that I believed this theft was caused specifically by a member of the community! Apologies if I gave that impression.

No apology necessary, I was referring to the other post that said "so much for community." I'm thinking I'll give the Klingon guy a taser and put him in charge of security next year.

Between Austin's display of his lifetime's worth of customs, and Roberto's Gotham City, this was by far the most epic set of displays I've ever seen at any Mego Meet I've attended.
A hearty congratulations after the heartbreak of last year, on an even grander and more impressive looking Batman 1/9th scale world you've created here Roberto. Your attention to detail is mind-blowing... particularly the theatrical flourishes, from the backdrop to the lighting! This was sheer genius. I'm sure we have not seen the last of your innovations. Can't wait to see the next level you achieve with this.
