Hello, Everyone.

Here's my latest...thanks for looking and I hope you like her.

Here she is...the real reason I watched The Rookies: Nurse Jill Danko. *swoon*

I always found it unfair that LJN never made a Jill action figure, since she was the most popular character on the show.

The figure probably looks really straight-forward and simple to make.
It WASN'T!!! LOL!!! The 70s style nurse's smock and hat were real challenges (as was the French Twist hairstyle, but after doing two rooted-hair Seven of Nine figures, I'm getting better at those!), so I'd like to thank Rosa (a.k.a. Mom) for her help and wizardry where needed. Jill's top has a functional mini-zipper in there!
I'd like to also thank Mefiboschet for shrinking the head for me.

First, here are a few screen caps I made from a DVD, showing Kate Jackson in all her medical glory:

http://megomuseum.com/albums/Ks-Stuff/jill_screen_cap2.jpg

And here is my Mego-like rendition of Jill in all of her 8" (well..a bit taller with the hat) lusciousness:

I made the card...my first one. I took some Kreative License with it and made it bolder in color than a "real" LJN card, as you can see with my carded LJN Terry for comparison:

LJN cards and narrower and taller than Mego cards, so I scaled Jill's card down proportionally, so that it's Mego height.

Can anyone steer me toward a recloseable clamshell that's a bit taller to accommodate Jill? I'd preferably like a Kresge-style clam.

I tried putting her into a David Lee SuperClam, but she's really squished in there and it's not appealing for display or storage.

Back to topic, here is Jill with her cape, ready for Mike to pick her up to go for paella. :wink_y:

And here she is with her stethoscope and medical chart:

Lastly, here's a closeup of that frustration-inducing French Twist:

Oh wow, very impressive. Really cool suit, hairdo, cape and accessories.
Resizing the card to Mego scale was a good idea, but it looks like it won't work too well with Rookie cards. You'll completely cover "The Rookies" with the figure's head :please:

Wow K, you have outdone yourself...I never saw the show, so thanks for the reference pictures, but I can see that you have put a lot of work into her, and it has paid off. I love your attention to detail...she looks great and so does your first card.

Meule,

You're absolutely right. I soon realized this when I saw how the height of the figure changed due to both the hairstyle and nurse's cap. I can easily resize and reprint it, but the real challenge is a properly-sized recloseable clamshell.

Hmm.....very good point, T1K. I don't know for sure but now that I think of it, I don't think I've ever seen an LJN female.....

Thanks a lot, Slippery. I hope to try my hand at a few more cards in the future, if I can make space in the clutter to store them! LOL!

Hey! That's really great! I loved watching the Rookies! (I only wish I taped them when TVLand was playing them.) For some reason, I never remembered that Kate Jackson was in it, 'cos I was kinda young when it was in its first run, but when I saw reruns when I was 13, I was like, "Hey, it's Sabrina from Charlie's Angels!":smiley1: But you did an awesome job! Kate would be proud!:wink_y:

Aw, DAMN! Are you kiddin' me, ABMAC!??

I didn't know such a figure existed! I could've sure cannibalized a few parts off of that! OH, well......thanks for that info. I never knew LJN made a female character!

T3Toys,

Thanks so much. I really appreciate it!

She's 9" tall, but I'm sure some of the clothes would fit. Don't feel too bad, K; if Joe DeRouen hadn't offered this one up for sale, I never would've seen a female LJN figure either. I've never found another one.

Thanks for the info, ABMAC. Actually, upon closer inspection, the smock (which took most of the work, followed by the hat) wouldn't have worked anyway, as it looks a bit "dress-like" relative to Jill's. OH, and after you posted this, I looked on ebay and it seems our own polyester has one for sale! LOL!! Thanks again for posting. I learned something new!

Thanks, Tbolt and Toyroom. I appreciate the comments.

polyester,

Thanks, poly.
That is an original Hasbro Sabrina head for their 9" figure. Mefiboscet has a process of shrinking heads (to 8" scale) while retaining factory paint and it also usually doesn't affect pre-rooted hair (although we had to do tests on the hair I rooted myself in my Seven of Nine figures).
