My neighbor told me a story about a friend of his in school whose mother bought him a bunch of these shirts after he had asked for Izod. He wore one shirt to school and was razzed about wearing a knockoff. He then went to a thrift store and bought a bunch of Izod shirts, cut the alligator off and crudely sewed them on the fox shirts. Things got worse when he showed up for school with a crooked alligator shirt.

Sears had the "Braggin' Dragon". I remember because I had a "friend" in the neighborhood that used to chide me because his Ma only paid $9.99 for his shirt that was exactly like my Polos and Izods that my Mom must have paid a small fortune for.
Long story short, I had my own (every day after school and Saturday) job and money in Jr. High and my Mom was an Ace at finding sales. Like Beverly Goldberg good at it. Not that it was any of his business.Comment
