    Best black dress shoes

I'm "customizing" a figure right now and it needs a pair of black dress shoes. What is the best (non-silly) looking shoe? I was thinking Penguin shoes but I think they are a bit clunky. Thoughts?

If you can find a pair of the shoes that came on Flattworld's Bela Legosi, they are nice black dress shoes.

The Flattword Dracula wingtip shoe is absolutely GORGEOUS. Very elegant, very dressy. My custom Penguin wears them. Those shoes look GREAT with or without spats.

Other notable mentions in the world of MEGO men's dress shoes:

The Wizard (from the Wizard of Oz line) also has a beautiful wingtip style shoe. Very dressy. In my opinion, though, it would probably look best with spats since the shoe is visually a bit large.

Also, there are some VERY since looking dress shoes in The Pirates line. Beautiful repros of those shoes are available over at CTVT. That shoe has a painted square buckle, but if you don't like it, it's no trouble at all to remove it with paint thinner. Overall its a really nice shoe.

I suspect that MEGO based the sculpt of their standard black and brown men's dress shoes (worn by The Penguin and The Joker respectively) on the Carmine Infantino Joker artwork (used on the Joker action figure box). In the artwork, the joker is depicted as wearing brown lace-up shoes with a very rounded, bulging tip (just like the Mego shoe ended up looking). And then MEGO simply gave The Penguin the same shoe molded in black.

I'm looking for something that will look decent with a blue suit. I'm leaning towards these.

The shoes that you indicate that you are leaning toward now are reproductions of the very same Penguin shoes that you described as "clunky" before. I'm not sure if you are aware of that.

CTVT has some nice rubber pointy shoes. I used them for my Joker.

I don't think that I was aware of that. Doc's appear a little slimmer. Still looking for more opinions.

I'm really not looking for something "classy". I'm looking for more of an everyday shoe, something not noticeably stylish.

From the Accessory Check, here are Dracula / Wizard of Oz' shoes. I prefer them for all of my suit wearing customs.

I've also used the CTVT repro shoes on several customs. I've noticed that the CTVT shoes are slightly smaller and stay on the feet better when compared to the original Mego Wizard's shoes.

Just checked CTVT. Looks like they don't have the Wiz/Drac shoes anymore. They do have what appears to be Penguin shoes. Doc Mego has the Wiz shoes. Guess I'll check them out.

CTVT never specifically sold those shoes seperately. I just left a whole lot of Dracula's shoeless. Not sure, but Doc mego's shoes may be hand cast, which you probably want to avoid (someone please correct me if I am wrong).

The easiest way is to probably find a cheap CTVT Dracula in eBay, or ask CTVT directly.
