I can get gas for $3.09 here. But diesel and heating oil have been up. I spent $3000+ this winter in oil. (Sept-Now)It was about $700 to $800 per fillup. My tank is 250 gallons. Both heat and hot water are oil heated so it can get some hefty usage. Especially when the family is all home like the holidays and spring break. I think it was around $3.30 last time I filled and I'll be due in about a week or two. I think it's $3.72 last time I saw the truck driving around,(they now advertise the price on the trucks in this area).

I'm glad I went with electric heat for my home...still pricey but not as expensive as oil.
Gas prices are about $3.27 in my area. If I searched I could probably find it $.10 cheaper but there are places charging well above $3.27 so I'm paying a below average price.
I drive an SUV (20 MPG) and can get away with one fill up per week which is about $45-$50 which covers my commute, errands and getting the kids to sports events. We have made a conscious effort to combine errands to try to save on gas.

Just heard this morning of a big new find in Brazil
Hopefully, that will off-set the a-rab prices.

It's relatively cheap compared to many liquids. (http://www.cockeyed.com/science/gallon/liquid.html)

Will the high cost of oil hav an effect on our toys as it did in the 70's? Thats when all the action figures started shrinking in size.

Yes it will. You should immediately send me any vintage 12" GI Joes of which I will quickly replace them with a pile of broken bits that used to be SuperJoes. It would be unAmerican of you not to do this at your earliest convenience.

It already is. I've heard that stuff like the smaller G.I. Joe figures have jumped from $4.xx to $5.xx and are sitting at $6.xx at Wal-Mart. This in about a month span.

3.21 for gas in OK. That's really high for us.
We use natural gas for heating. Better that the home heating oil, I guess.

I am so sick of hearing that the price of petrol has gone up so often when I turn the news on lately.

I just hope that Brazil strike is a good one.
It would be nice to see some competition in the gas market-place
In the end, it could mean lower prices.

There is a huge oil deposit sitting in Alaska but nobody can seem to agree on whether or not we should tap it and if so how to do it while protecting the environment.

I really don't like these liquid comparisons. The biggest one I always see compared is milk to gas.
The problem with the comparison is that I probably drive through 15 gallons of gas a week and so does my wife. That's 30 gallons total. But we only consume one or two gallons of milk a week.
In addition, gas is somewhat inelastic in demand meaning on the demand side, you can only control it by purchasing cars that get better gas mileage or trying to combine errands. There are a lot of substitutes to milk with the same nutritional value. It has been a long time since I have personally had a glass of milk but find sources of vitamin D from other dairy products.

There was a solution to Gas/oil...the EV (Electric Vehicle). If you really want to get ticked off...watch "The Men That Killed The Electric Car". That documentary will really get anyone angry at the US Government/Big Auto/Big Oil. And no...hydrogen cars are not the way to go.
BTW, if you think gas prices are high here...live in Europe. I have relatives in Italy that say that gas is about $5 pere LITRE!!! Not per gallon. So we really shouldn't complain. As long as the Fed and the President let their cronies get away with price gauging...there is nothing we can do about it. Price of gas is only gonna get worse. $2 per gallon gas is long gone.

Interesting article on msn.com right now about why we are paying so much at the pump and when relief will come.

We've got the climate for it down here, so tons of scooters are popping up. I can't wait until those folks graduate to motorcycles. We could see some really interesting designs in the next decade.

If I didn't have to share the road with big pick up trucks, SUV's, minivans, tractor trailers, etc. that drive like maniacs, I would purchase a small fuel efficient car or Vespa to drive back and forth to work at least and use it as much as possible.
Having been in a pretty bad car accident, (I was in a small car) and injured pretty bad, I'm not downgrading my midsize SUV until I see more smaller cars on the road.
