I still haven't quite gotten over my trip to Tokyo and Hong Kong. I was introduced to "gachapon machines" there, which dispense small, but high quality toy prizes.
My latest project is based on Tokyo's gachapon machines, with a little bit of LucasFilm Games' "The Secret of Monkey Island" tossed in. It sounds completely insane, but I made a pair of mini pirate gachapon machines, done in wood to make them look somewhat like something from the Pirate Era. But I retained the Japanese header cards and the yen stickers. This is purposely incongruent because I wanted this to look ridiculous but almost like something out of "Monkey Island" or Tokyo Disneyland.
The scale is about 1:12, but this can be scaled up to 1:9 or 1:6 as-needed.
