my partner in crime, Random Axe/Scott has been posting these over on Facebook, so I thought i'd share the process over her win the customs section as well. This is the official E-Man action figure approved by co-creator Joe Staton, which sold out at NYCC 2015 and comes back for Mego Meet and Denver Comic Con 2016.
you can pre-order the official E-Man for delivery here:
or for pick-up at Mego Meet.
I can't stress enough how figures from the Random/Noir toy co-op is a big team effort from a dirty half dozen experts in their individual fields, that come together into something amazing in the hands of creative director Scott in the final assembly. A great many people put a great deal of effort into creating what is essentially a labour of love.
We start with a modified sculpt by Andy/Crimson Ghost. If you look at E-Man's hair in the original comic book art, he really does an amazing job translating it into 3-D.

Below, we have the suits and heads. While dressing up and popping a head onto figure is relatively easy, we have Aaron/Brazoo first design the suit in Adobe Illustrator. We sends it to Austin/megowgsh who tweaks the colours and uses his own special methods to create the printed suit in spandex (watch him at Mego Meet if you are coming). The printed spandex goes to ScottA and his wife Elaine who sew together the printed suit.
Additionally, Austin also casts the heads using a pressure pot to guarantee the detail of Andy's sculpts are retained with few flaws or bubbles.

All the materials go to Scott/Random Axe who works his magic with an unsurpassed attention to detail. I always feel like photos NEVER capture all the shades and subtleties of Scott's head paints.
