Clover, purveyor of fine Japanese die-cast back in the 70's, put out a line of Chogokin College Football Player figures. Had no idea they exited; stumbled across one during my weekly Popy search. Got me a Texas Longhorn player:

I don't know if they produced every team shown on the artwork, but I did see a completed ebay auction for a Pitt. Player. Would love to pick up a Michigan State Spartan and Notre Dame Fighting Irish if they exist.
