Hi all,
This is more of a kit bash than a custom, I guess. Over the last few years, my son, who is now ten, has been bitten by the Mego bug, influenced by me, of course. He already has most of the cool new figures and we've filled in some of the gaps nicely with the DC Retro line, but there are still some figures he would like that you can't buy. That's where this great Mego community comes in. With all of the resources and really great people here, I am able to put together some figures for him that were either never made or we can't afford to buy original Mego.
I've been wanting to put an Iron Man figure together for him, but the head was always an issue. I can't paint heads and I'm not a fan of the original Mego Iron Man head. So I came across a post that had a Pez head adapter by Laser Mego. I figured I'd pick one up and see how it goes. The adapter is really cool. I picked up an older Iron Man Pez from eBay for next to nothing and put it on the adapter. It fit perfectly and even allows the head to move up and down a bit. The Pez heads always look a little too big, but I think it works here because it's technically supposed to be be a helmet, right?
Anyway, the rest of the figure is a Doc Mego swivel arm body with costume and chest button. The gloves, boots and belt are from CTVT. Next, I put together a backer card and recycled one of the FTC clam shell packages to finish it up. I just wanted to share this with you guys.
Merry Christmas!
