before I buy...Anybody have input on these bodies from CTVT?

So I'm looking at upgrading my custom Darkon Figure. I had one of the OEM Super Gi Joe ones
    as a kid pictured here:

But all that survived childhood was his Ray Pack and his head.
FF to 1994, my brother feeling nostalgic as he was, created a
custom one for me using what I had left.

We always talked about eventually finding a cheap enough naked Mego GG and using the body
to replace "open skin" areas that he artfully hid using bits and pieces from a Mego Green Arrow
costume. ( it's what we did back in the day, you didn't have much choice back then).
on this figure it would be his upper biceps, and his legs, as well as his chest.

FF to now. My brother passed away, and one of the things I always said I'd do is tweak or fix
the customs we / he made and that we never got around to completing. To me,
this seems like such a simple one, and yet due to the nature of how CTVT's bodies are,
I'm leery on using then for this custom.

So has anybody have or had experience with their green bodies?

I assume since these aren't marked MIC they must be Made in India
like their Mad Monster bodies.....if so then I'll probably pass, because
    I am familiar with those....

i looked into the dr. Mego Bodies, my only issue is the torso part not being as green.

My other option, in this price range, is to go with a retro Mattel Martian Manhunter body,
but from the few threads I read removal of the head is a nightmare?
What would entail going that route...?

    TIA for any input!

    1. Martian Manhunter's head removal is only a nightmare if you are trying not to rip the neck plug. But the green is way too "lime green" for Darkon, so not really a contender in my opinion regardless.
    2. The CTVT green body isn't a great shade of green either, but closer. However, I am pretty sure it is from the India era... so the body will be crap. I wouldn't recommend going that route either.
    3. You could always paint or dye a body. I have never done it, but I think there are some other threads with tips.

That being said... the custom figure your brother made you is an amazing monument to your childhood. I love everything about it. If it was up to me, If you really want a Darkon, track down one on eBay. I wouldn't change a thing on this one.

painting you get a more even colour .with the arms and legs been made of different plastic dying causes the torso to be a different colour.

Thanks for the input sprytel and daz71!
Yes, I too like the custom he made "as is", but one of his wishes
was that he could have found a way to actual have the limbs shown
as limbs, with resorting to using cloth to mimic it. His other stickler
was the torso, as in posing his red "armour" would slide down,
        just exposing the neck area.

In looking at Michael's yesterday, I think I might have a fix for the torso and at least
the biceps...an emerald green "Craft tape", kinda like vinyl tape, that I could just apply
to those areas. I'm for leaving the legs alone.

The only other thing I'd add is that both he Dr Mego and CTVT muscle bodies are a bit off in their proportions. They aren't any taller than a regular ego body but since they are wider it makes them seem a bit squat when sitting next to a regular body. It's not as bad as an original Mego Hulk, but it's noticeable. In any case, good luck in your tribute to your brother.

And thank you, by the way. This is a toy That I'd completely forgotten that I had back in the day.
