    Star Blazers action figure gallery

Star Blazers was a huge phenomenon in my neighbourhood when it hit the airwaves in 1979, my friends and I would gather every day at the one house whose ariel got the channel just to see if the Argo did indeed save earth.

That's why these action figures produced by Nomura in Japan blew my mind when I first saw them. Like Battle of the Planets, Star Blazers is an action figure line I really wanted as a kid!

So I present to you not only my dream line of action figures but possible one of the greatest playsets I've ever seen and brother, that's saying a lot.

Check out the Star Blazers action figure gallery here.

Those are gorgeous. I love seeing 3.75" figures I've never seen before.

I want 'em but wager they're impossibly expensive?

That playset is great! What year where these released in Japan?

I imagine the bridge playset is pretty pricey. I'm unaware of this show but its cool to see new discoveries. Not a bad looking set either.

These are nice looking figures. We never got this show in my area. We got Battle of the Planets, but not this.

That's so awesome. I'd love to have that set but I imagine it costs an arm and a leg.

their head paint and sculpt is so much nicer than popy's gatchaman 3.75 inch figures.

Okay, Brian… you just stopped my in my tracks!!!

                    WOW!!!

                    I mean…

                    WOWWWW!!

Star Blazers is the only Japanimation I was ever into. Yup, 1979 meant waking up at 6:00 and watching Star Blazers before school. If these had existed in our toy stores, I would've been ALL over them. Look at how colorful they all look on the playset. Now THOSE are toys!!! Just beautiful. So they weren't sold on cards but in those little coffin boxes with the etching of the Argo on it?

Oh man, I want them. Can someone please do a Super7 ALIEN job and re-cast these?

Thanks so much for sharing these. Love them.

Incidentally, I haven't seen the show since. Does it hold up? Is there a North American video release anyone can recommend?

It was released on video in North America. I had a chance to see the first few episodes again and was disappointed. That was a couple of years ago. I'd be willing to give it another chance. I loved the show when it originally aired.

Great stuff sir, if these figures had been released here back then, they probably would have been a decent hit, same with Battle of the Planets.

I lucked out, it played after school in my neck of the woods. This show was the first anime I ever saw, I remember being fascinated at how different it seemed from other cartoons.
