    Battlestar Galactica Poster Art

Please give a warm welcome to my latest obsession, 70s poster art sets. As a young lad I ruined many of these with my lack of both talent and patience.

I've been secretly admiring these on Ebay until one bout of sleeplessness resulted in a surprise parcel in the form of this set and it is a beauty!

Seriously I don't remember buying this...

Look at how beautiful the art is on this thing, you don't need to colour it all.

One thing I want to point out is, this is how they suggest you color these pages.

Aaaaand these are the tools they give you to accomplish this goal.

Fantastic art, when I first saw this in person I was really impressed, especially the back one with the closeup of the Imperious Leader. This wasn't just phoned-in artwork, that's for sure!

I love coloring poster sets. I have Star Trek Motion Picture, Star Trek TNG and my fave The Hardy Boys!

Yeah, those makers are almost designed to ruin the posters, no matter how good an artist you are. The artwork is gorgeous! I wonder who was the artist on these? Looks a bit like Gray Morrow, or Al Wiliamson maybe?

I always loved the renderings on those kinds of posters. Having them uncolored gave the original artwork the kind of dignity it deserved. Actually it looks like really good ink work with a smidge of ink wash for effect.

...And then Photoshop was invented and destroyed illustration forever.

              That is absolutely sumptuous.

Anyone know who the artist was on these? We were all standing around this at the Burlington Toy Show on Sunday trying to figure it out.

It certainly ain't the guy who did the BSG coloring book!

Markers never lasted long enough to finish those posters. I started using color pencils instead.

You are so right! I actually had this exact set and it drove me crazy I couldn't complete it with the markers that came with it. Great set!
