Hi

I am new to the board and aside from restarting to collect Mego's, I am also collecting Captain Action stuff. Just wanted to see if there is anyone else

I have a few CA things. Batman suit, mask, cape, boots, belt, batarang, drill. A Superboy costume and mask. Robin's cape. Orignal CA outfit (and hat) Action Boy outfit, boots and belt. And then quite a bit of the PM stuff.

I'm tempted by CA, but since it was before my time, the nostalgia isn't there. That's why I prefer Mego. Plus there is more to go after from Mego.

Welcome!!!

I so want to get a couple Captain Action figures with costumes. Mostly love to get Spiderman, Batman and Robin. I don't care to get every little misc item just the basic costumes. But I always get outbid lol, one of these days

Mostly have the PM revival stuff but I do have some odds and ends of the real Ideal pieces. And, of course, I do the repro costume boxes for the Captain Action and Action Boy costumes as well as Super Queens. :wink_y:

I have a few CA items including an original complete figure and a complete Dr. Evil. Since it was the same scale as G.I. Joe I often find CA parts mixed in when I buy Joe lots so I save them seperately. The Captain Action line never really seemed to lend itself to collectibility like others did. There are a lot of small parts, the plastic was brittle and melted easily, and it just wasn't around for that long. It was an awesome concept and it's a shame Playing Mantis could not get it revived.

I've had several complete Captain Action figures at one time or another. I still miss my Robin figure. He was something special.

Had a really nice Captain America once too. He looks pretty Badass with his long gun.

One day, when I finish my WGSH and POTA collections, I may venture back into the realm of CA. Maybe this time I'll be more careful. Those accessories are fragile and you'd cringe to know the ones I've broken.

Also collect capt action. Have mainly the main characters: spiderman, capt america, dr evil, flash gordon, batman, aquaman, and the plain capt himself. Hope to get an aqualad and robin in the near future and hopefully a supes preferably without the common vinyl tear to his cape on the neckline.

I was still feverishly hunting for the CA Captain America and Spiderman when Mego's first appeared in Kmarts. Action Boy's STILL my favorite and have both Robin and Aqualad sets. I did buy up a lot of CA stuff a few years back like Aquaman, Batman, Spidey and Capt America, but I didn't really like the Spidey set after all my trouble of getting a run-free suit and custom gloves.

I still have Cap on the Joe WWII Harley like the old Tales of Suspense comics.. Oh, and of course a PM Doctor Evil in the lab coat ~ He simply rocks..

Wow, my CA collection has grown quite a bit in a year! I now have a vintage Action Boy and Robin costume and mask. And Aquaman costume/mask and Captain America costume/mask. Working on the packaging for the Cast-A-Way Captain Action figures really got me more and more into it. I blame David and Jason!!!

Here's a pick of my repro CA decals:

6 year UV Gold mirror chrome vinyl and a great way to up-grade an old figure. The set includes Superman & cape, Superboy & cape, Supergirl & cape, Krypto, Batman & Robin. Anybody needs some just drop me a PM.

Theres an original CA in rare purple uniform ending on ebay in just under two hours , i thought it was a phantom uniform at first being purple but research showed me the 1966 issue was very briefly in a purple uniform.Apparantly very rare still in its box.

...I'm primarily a Captain Action collector! >gasp< No, not a major player but I've managed to gather most of the original outfits, most on original figures. And one fine day I'll find that Silver Streak and/or a Dr. Evil sanctuary at somebody's yard sale or estate auction, cheap! Dirt cheap, I hope! Buh-wahh-hahahahahahah!!!

I've got the entire run of the Playing Mantis version. Only a Batman 'tard, some boots and a helmet in vintage. I traded my vintage Captain Action for GI Joe stuff in the early 1990's...:ugh_y:

I wouldn't mind coming across some mint figures for less than nothing, but until then I must content myself with the reproductions.

I just wish DC would bring back the Captain!

To this day.. I STILL don't understand how so many of my C/A parts (Aquaman spear, thin belt buckles, etc..) SURVIVED my childhood, but they did..

I must have been a tender, meticulous kid..

The Action Boy sets were always my favorite.

Anyhow, I had a few as a kid, but never Batman, Robin and Spiderman, which I ALWAYS wanted. Drove my mom crazy until the 1st issue Megos came out..

Robin, Captain America, and Aqualad were my favorites, and I repurchased/upgraded my complete sets to C9 condition. A decade ago I had nearly completed my Spiderman set, and a few other sets, but I sold them off a few years back for other items.

Cap and Robin are still my favorites!

It's nice to say I had 'em at one point.

I have been dabbling in CA this year, picked up Superman's uniform, Captain america and Mask, flash Gordon and Mask, Phantom and Hood. I still need Supes mask, the face piece to Phantom's mask, Caps boots, belt, guns and shield and Flash gordons boots.

I have a few other odds and ends as extras or incomplete sets, Lone Ranger, couple phantom suits and supes suits, which I can either complete or sell/trade as needed. some of them are pretty rough though

I'll let Wes himself post his site. He's made the BEST gloves you'd ever want to own.

I'm on a military computer for the next 309 days, so there's only so many non-government sites I can get to.

'Heck, I'm surprised I can reach this one.....?!? :juggleyes_y:

Captain Action was just a page in my toy guides for the longest time. When they did the reissues I liked the hands but the shoulder popping out of joint was unforgivable.

I know this might sound like sacrilige but I saw the communicator helmet on ebay and it was AMAZING! I'm actually really interested in the NON superhero gear. I also saw the Jetpack whicjh looked just like the REAL one I saw on Fall Guy as a kid.

I like Captain Action because it fits GI Joe. A reissue would be nice . I see he has his own comic now.

Does the Castaway Action Phantom and enemy have removable masks? I love the grey one.

Not a collector, but a big fan nonetheless. Just say "Capt. Action" and you got my attention! It was the Batman costume that first got my interest in this toy.
As valuable as it is, let's just take a moment to laugh...."Aurora Capt. Action model kit".:smiley1:

Great looking Batman Wes! Is that a one-time custom or do you sale him complete or in parts? That's an investment I would be interested in.

no thats a body switch from 77-78 Zem-21 star teams knight of darkness, Ideas Stars wars knock off line , which comprised of earlier toys lines modified & thrown together.

be carefull with the body ,the black pigiment is reactive and leeches out and stains clothings

Yeah- about the post-Star Wars "Star Team" line from Ideal Toys- they used molds from Captain Action (for humanoid body), Zeroids (for the R2 style robot), and Evel Knievel (for the human's spaceship). Maybe more. And the name "Star Team" itself came from an earlier line of Ideal toys (kid sized space helmets and astro gear).

Glad to see you around here Wes! Everybody here at Mego Museum deserve to know that you are to Ideal Captain Action figures what Paul "Dr. Mego" Clark" is to Mego Corp 8" figures... Yeah, yeah, I know... Too humble to say it that way... Just like the Doc... You guys are simply the best! Regards,

I'm a Captain Action fan and I've some of the italian production by Baravelli.
In Italy his name was Capitano Azione. Really cool figure specially in the great mistake of to put on sell with Captain America Jumpsuit and Captain Action accessories.
In Italy in those years we don't know well Captain America and Baravelli did a great mistake:

Seconded!

Though I would like to see SOMEONE reproducing Captain Action accessories in the same way Paul does for Mego.

that would be sweet, but I don't know if there is enough demand. I'd love to be able to pick up the Cpt. America shield for $10-$20 bucks. An original just went on ebay last week for like $89.00

probably not a lot of demand, but I think there'd be a bit of interest.

CA is still relatively unknown when it comes to toy collecting, but all it'd take is a little more exposure, methinks.
